Opening Build a Bucket...

A FREE NBA CAREER GAME

BUILD A BUCKET

A free NBA basketball career game. Draft ten abilities from real player profiles, play 82 games, chase the ring and reach the Hall of Fame. No account, no download.

In basketball slang, a bucket is a made shot. Build a Bucket is about building the player who makes them: you draft ten abilities from real NBA player profiles, take that one player through an 82-game season, and live with every decision until retirement.

It is a single-player career game, not a twitch game. You never control a dribble or a jump shot: you decide who the player is, how he develops, where he plays and when he walks away.

HOW A CAREER RUNS

  1. Draft the playerTen picks from archived NBA ability sets. Guard or Big, three rerolls and one held player.
  2. Get draftedA short 1v1 showcase sets your scouting report, then six teams call on draft night.
  3. Play the seasonEvery game runs as a fast text broadcast you can watch at your own pace, skip to the final, or simulate the rest of the season.
  4. Make the callsCareer decisions land roughly every fourth game and change your condition, coach trust, fans, reputation or ratings.
  5. Chase the ringEighty-two games set your seed. The play-in and four best-of-seven rounds decide the season.
  6. Retire on your termsContracts, transfers, awards and a Hall of Fame score follow you to the end.

WHAT IS ACTUALLY IN THE GAME

  • A real draft Ten ability slots filled one pick at a time, with rerolls, an undo and conditional style badges.
  • A full league Thirty teams playing their own 82-game schedules in the background, so standings and seeding are real.
  • An NBA playoff bracket The play-in for seeds seven to ten, then the first round, conference semifinals, conference finals and the Finals.
  • Fast text broadcasts A whole game in about forty seconds, with pause, 1x to 4x speed, skip-to-final and a replay you can re-read afterwards.
  • Money that matters Games stop improving you at 95 overall; summer programs and mid-season investment are the only route to the rest.
  • Records and legacy Career highs, streaks, awards, a conference table and a Hall of Fame score at retirement.

WHAT IT IS NOT

No online multiplayer, no ranking ladder, no cloud account and no real-money element. It is basketball only: there is no football version. Ratings in the draft pool are imported game ratings rescaled to a 25 to 99 range, clearly labelled as such, and they are not real NBA statistics. Team names and logos identify where a profile came from; the league, the schedule and every result are fictional.

BUILD A BUCKET QUESTIONS

What does "build a bucket" mean?

In basketball slang a bucket is a made shot. Here it means building the player who makes them: you draft ten abilities from real NBA profiles, then play out an entire career with that build.

Is Build a Bucket free to play?

Yes. The whole game runs in the browser with no account, no ads, no payments and no paid boosts of any kind.

Do I need to download or install anything?

No. Open the page and start the draft. After a first visit the production build also keeps working offline, and there is an optional pack of player photos you can download.

How long does one career take?

A first season takes about twenty minutes if you watch most games, and much less if you simulate. A career runs as long as you keep playing, up to twenty-five seasons.

Are the games against other people?

No. Every game is a deterministic simulation against fictional opponents built from the archived player pool. There is no lobby and no matchmaking.

Which NBA players are in the draft?

The archive holds 658 player versions with 677 portraits across all 30 teams. Every ability you draft shows the profile it came from.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The interface is designed mobile first and verified at 320px, 390px, 768px and 1440px wide, with no horizontal scrolling on any screen.
